Background and mission

www.flexblocked.com is part of the arrimundo family — the site’s footer reads “An offering from arrimundo”. The ambition is right there in the tagline: “Your blocked account, your way. Arrive in Germany, money sorted.” In other words: you set up your blocked account the way that suits you — and by the time you land in Germany, the money question is settled.

Behind it is a clear sense of purpose: an independent, free guide to the blocked account, health insurance (public and private — GKV and PKV) and the proof of funds for your visa — no jargon, no hidden fees. “Free, honest, sourced”, as the portal itself puts it. Sources are meant to be named and dated on every page, so you can verify everything yourself. It’s the same principle you know from all the arrimundo portals.

Honesty also extends to the business model: using the portal is completely free. It’s funded through affiliate links — if you sign up via a provider link, the portal may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. The portal explicitly promises that this never sways its reviews: “rankings never bought”. Who’s behind the site is disclosed transparently in the imprint; and on privacy, the portal keeps things lean too — cookieless statistics, no tracking cookies, no selling of data.

www.flexblocked.com is designed for 13 languages — from English and German through Arabic, Chinese and Hindi to Vietnamese. The legal pages are already live in all 13. That fits what arrimundo stands for: plain language for people who are still learning German.

What the portal offers

The homepage names four topics you need to get right to fund your visa — “Four things to get right”:

• Blocked account — what it is, which amount applies to your visa in 2026 and how to open an account quickly.
• Health insurance — public (GKV) or private (PKV), with real-world price ranges.
• Visa and proof of funds — the right amount plus checklists, for the student visa and other routes like the Chancenkarte.
• Current account — a German account with an IBAN where your monthly allowance is paid out.

On top of that, the planned site structure includes several tools: “Build your package” walks you step by step to your own bundle of blocked account, insurance and bank account — you pick what fits. Also announced are a cost calculator, a deadline planner, a provider comparison and a check on whether a provider is accepted by your embassy. All of it rounded out by guides, checklists and a glossary.

To set your expectations: all of this is announced, but not yet live. Today, the homepage gives you the key figures for 2026, answers to frequently asked questions and the option to be notified by email as soon as the portal launches in full.

What the portal won’t do for you

This belongs in an honest profile too:

• The embassy’s decision. The portal explains the rules in plain language and links to official sources — it is not financial or legal advice. Always confirm the exact blocked amount for your visa with your embassy. That’s exactly what the portal itself advises.
• The money. €11,904 is a lot. The portal shows you the way, but you have to come up with the amount yourself — plan for it early.
• Opening the account itself. You apply for your account and insurance with the respective provider, not on www.flexblocked.com.
• The wait for launch. As long as the guides and tools aren’t live yet, you’ll need to fall back on official sources for the details. The homepage does, however, already give you the most important figure for 2026.
